An awesome classic 90's flick with tons of wacky lines. It's always good to go back and watch one of these classics.

Just, plain, fantastic!! I haven't seen such a funny movie in years. Ace Ventura is truly gold. As you can see i have used an icon from Ace Ventura 2. Jim Carrey's acting is just too much, it's hard not to break out laughing. And ever since i saw this movie, i have been know to say "Alrighty then" and even when we are in stupid moods "Hello, can i a$$ you a few questions?". It's just so hard not too. So for a good laugh, i say go for Ace!!

This movie sure is a classic. I used to watch it all the time. I don't even remember what it was exactly about. But I know that it had something to do with animals. I remember it being a funny movie though.

Jim Carrey shows off his ultimate talent, being side-splittingly funny without being offensive. This is a funny movie, although the story isn't that great, it is a comedy, so the focus is being funny, and this movie fits the bill. 3 1/2 stars.

made, he has achieved stardom he is talented that is how close my tastes are to the common folks, I am the most common man among us all, This movie script written by Jack Bernstein is actually written to accommodate the different aspects of Jim Carrey’s acting talents and his stand up comedy ability. Every scene even the one in the dolphin tank was written to highlight Jim Carrey, all credit is due to Tom Shadyac the director who saw it fit to cast Jim Carrey and gave him the most free hand any director have ever done in the business of movie making. How do you direct a role like Ace Ventura there is no rule of direction applicable to the role, I am sure there is no course in any film making universities of the world to prepare a director to direct the role of ACE VENTURA :Pet Detective, these type of roles are only possible when you let the actor do his thing, what you as a director do is approve the editing shots for each sequence. Mouth washing scene, Party scene all these things are almost like the reactions of a rebel in all of us, it is just a enhanced version of our reactions this is the reason we identify with the spirit of the scene and laugh and laugh, the whacky comedy, the dirty and bad jokes and dialogues are put in to jolt us to sensible world we live in, its like asking you to let go of yourself and bring you back physically and making you ask the question, am I enjoying these semi-silly and semi-serious words, imagine someone told you, I am the best and top most Pet Detective in the world because I am the only one. Will this jolt you ? The jokes are so many, you can’t hear them all in one time as you are too busy laughing. Carrey’s off the wall antics made this film take away attention from the flaws that the movie has. The story line is weak, a goofy pet detective is on the case of a missing Snowflake, the Miami dolphin’s mascot. This is no masterpiece, and it is not trying to be. What this movie is doing is to make you laugh out loud. Carrey’s trademark humor his fooling of William Shatner and persona of Hans, the dolphin trainer is hilarious. Carrey dancing around in a tattoo and hiding in a box is classic. there are crazy hairstyles, funny faces, noises and impersonations. "I don’t do people" he says when asked why he didn’t become a "real detective" Some crazy exchanges : ------------------- Landlord: Ventura! Ace: Yes satan? Ace: Oh, I’m sorry sir. You sounded like someone else. Landlord: Never mind the wise cracks Ventura. Even serious people need fun and some vulgar humor, and this is my choice for it. Courtenay Cox is the person who hires ACE VENTURA and after having doubts and misgivings finally starts approving of Ace and falls in love with him, there are so many good exchanges between them. Be sure all are away from ordinary, its 10 comedy actors are combined in persona of ACE VENTURA that was how wonderful Jim Carrey was in this movie. Dan Marino, Lt.Lois Eihorn(Sean Young)(Ray Finkle) are some other people we come across in this film. Ace has in his house all sorts of furry and feathered friends there’s nothing more family friendly than a movie featuring lovely animals there are some funny retake of popular films, witty insults are becoming a signature of all Jim Carrey films. This film is a bomber-comedy by a master comedian, some of his other films are : The Mask, Dumb & Dumber, Nature calls: Ace Ventura, Liar Liar, The Cable Guy, The Truman Show Man On The Moon, Me, Myself & Irene, The Grinch, and many more to come and came. I am so fixed at the acting and presence of Jim in this film I could not mention other plus points, like the presence of Courtney Cox, I like this girl with all black hair and black eyes and she acts very well, probably Ace Ventura was her most successful film, Sean Young are lots of other actors do make this movie a must watch. Yo being funny is no funny business !!! Jim Carrey is us we are him !!!

Not Jim Carrey at his best and not my favorte Carry movie the movie is funny for the most part but some of the stuff is un funny i give the movie a rating of 3 stars.
