Man, did I forget about this movie. I've only seen it like twice in my life but before the second time, I forgot a whole lot about the whole thing. There are some amazing special effects and action scenes but the whole thing becomes unnecessarily 2 and a half hours long. And the whole thing becomes too much, too long, and very dull.

this movie was an old concept but wow did they leave behind any ideas that it was same old, same old. The acting was great by everyone and it was more about the people not the events. And, I am sure that a lot of the lines Will had were ad libed...

Ever you ever wished to see the White House and some famous monments being blown apart into pieces. Independence Day does it all, plus that its just want the American Dream is all about, explosions and everything. Independence Day is a sci-fi action movie.

Independence Day is very resinmencent of War of the Worlds, where the aliens invaded the earth, and every inch of humanity require to repel the invasion of destroying mankind. I really like that plot along with awesome visual effects, its indeed a blast to everyone. It's the first futuristic disaster movie that's as cute as a button. Which when all the special effects blow over, is what Americans like in a monster hit!

Independence Day starts off with the speech when humanity have took a step on moon, claiming in and properousity to all. But a large mothership that boasts 25% of the moon mass coming in close proximity of Earth and deploys dozens of flying saucers on their way to Earth to begin entering the atmosphere. They disrupted the satalights. Once they arrived to Earth, they caused massive havoc and uproar to the streets, worldwide. Then eventually engage the cities of the earth. It is soon learned by the military that a number of enormous objects are on a collision course with Earth. At first thought to be meteors, they are later revealed to be gigantic spacecraft, piloted by a mysterious alien species. After attempts to communicate with the aliens go nowhere, David Levinson, an ex-scientist turned cable technician, discovers that the aliens are going to attack major points around the globe in less than a day. On July 3rd, the aliens all but obliterate New York, Los Angeles, and Washington. The survivors set out in convoys towards Area 51, a strange government testing ground where it is rumored the military has a captured alien spacecraft of their own. The survivors devise a plan to fight back against the enslaving aliens, and July 4th becomes the day humanity will fight for its freedom. July 4th is their Independence Day.

The idea of making a sci-fi movie where the struggles of mankind is astounding and its at its own right. Its very similar to War of the Worlds, really. The visual effects and CG effects are absolutely amazing and outstanding. As you experienced explosion after explosion after explosion. The incredible visual effects which make the movie have quite an intriguing and sensational nature which you will never forget. Its just an absolutely alien invades earth spectacular blast and its very thrilling to all audiences.

The casting of this movie seems to be quite good, Jean Hackman,Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and many more does the stuff right and the excatation is pretty well and does fit. Both Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith teams up in at the end and its pretty well done for those characters. Jean Hackman plays the 4-star general, Will Smith plays Captain Hiller, Jeff Goldblum plays a cable technican, Bill Pullman plays the President of the United States. All these casting character fit very well towards the movie. But the dialogue should improve abit, it sounds pitch-perfect cartoonish.

Overall, Independence Day is a spectacular amazing action-packed movie with explosives. Its a extragadaza blast and its storyline is very intriguing and awesome. The ending was just impressive and well put. Sci-fi fans and people looking for a spectacular blast movie should watch this film. Everything is well put and the excuatation is well done. This is a Recommended Purchase.
