Definitely a classic, but in some cases, "classic" doesn't always mean "good". Not only does this version of "Dracula" suffer from a rather dull telling of the story, but also low production values. Here we have armadillos posing as giant rats and sheets of cardboard in plain view to adjust the lighting. Browning does an awful job with the static camera setups...perhaps his goal was to recreate the stage play? Sorry Tod, this is cinema, try being creative. The Spanish version (available on many DVD releases of this film)was much better in that respect. The lack of music was also a problem, but that was a technical issue that no one should be blamed for...nevertheless, the music is sorely missed here.

On a positive note, the cast is very good. Frye is awesome, and without the great Lugosi, I doubt this would be considered a classic at all.

Ultimately, I think someone else should have directed it.
