Rat Race is a hilarious comedy with a plethora of amazing stars, such as Whoopi Goldberg, Rowan Atkinson, Cuba Gooding Jr., John Cleese, and Jon Lovitz, just to name a few. This film tells the story of a group of people, all racing to New Mexico for the chance to win two million dollars. The whole film is filled to the brim with funny hijinks and comedic situations as the characters all scramble to be the first to reach the coveted cash prize in New Mexico. I highly recommend this great movie to anyone looking to watch a comedy movie that’s guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.

First of all, sorry the reviews are slow in coming. All the good summer movies are done with and the winter is always a slow time for movies. We didn't even get any new ones this week. On a positive note, the much anticipated Lord of the Rings is due out around Christmas and both Star Wars: Episode 2 and the Matrix sequel are due for release next Spring.
Anyway, Rat Race is a comedy featuring several semi-big almost-stars. With John Cleese (of Monty Python fame), Rowan Atkinson (british comedian Mr. Bean), Whoopie Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., and many others I had high hopes. The premise of the story is that John Cleese is the owner of an exclusive Las Vegas casino, but him and a select group of high rollers have gotten increasingly bored with the usual gambling choices. Cleese's character decides to remedy the situation by gathering a group of casino patrons and recruiting them for a private contest. As the host, Cleese tells the group that there is a locker in Arizona with $2 million in it. He gives each of them a key and informs them that whoever gets there first gets the cash, with the obligatory "there are no rules" clause. Little do they know that behind some one-way glass, they are being watched by a group of high rollers who are betting on which one of them will have what it takes, tracking them the whole way. The movie follows each of them on their wacky adventures, while putting all members of the group into very humiliating and humbling situations. Cuba Gooding Jr. (usually an action or drama star) looks very out of place when he is reduced to being stranded in the desert with no water and nothing but his boxers. Whoopie Goldberg as well, seems strange playing a ditzy mother. With a story that was no doubt inspired by the deluge of "reality TV" programs to pop up recently, this movie is very light-hearted and doesn't seem to take itself or it's actors very seriously. It's a perfect getaway from the recent tragedies that have plagued the country recently. It also has a long list of cast members that are all widely recognized, and even a cameo by the musical group Smashmouth. You feel very comfortable watching so many veterans. While it is nothing incredibly unique or first-rate, Rat Race does have some truly funny moments, especially if you are a fan of any of these actors. It is enjoyable and a good relief for an hour and a half that some people may very well have needed at the time it came out.

An okay movie with some funny parts that will make you laugh on occaision but it is not on par with great movies like Anchorman or Animal House

This is a ok movie. It is not that funny the carters are greedy people who seem not to care for and the ending is not that big of a superise it has been done to many times that no can chount how many so it is ok but not great it is ok.

This movie was really funny. It had an excellent cast, that to my opinion, was great! One of the best and most original movies I have seen in my life, Rowan Atkinson is the funniest of them, this movie is awesome!

Rat Race is so funny! Rowan Atkinson is absolutely brilliant in it when he stops dead in the middle of a hotel and starts to sleep. The climax is so exciting, but I think it is ruined by the ending.
