Who knew that the Mercyhurst College Talent Show in little Erie, Pennsylvania would be the launch pad of the latest band to challenge the Beatles? Certainly not the Oneders! (Pronounce: "One-ders," "O-neders," or "On-ed-ers.") Appliance salesman Guy Patterson, the drummer, wasn't even originally part of the band - he was a last-minute recruit when the regular drummer, Chad, broke his arm. Thanks to him, the Oneders soon have a single, a small-time manager, and gigs as far away as Pittsburgh! At one such gig, they are seen by a representative from Play-Tone Records, Mr. White, who signs them onto the label. As the newest addition to the Play-Tone Galaxy of Stars, Jimmy, Lenny, Guy, T. B. Player, and their costume mistress (Jimmy's girlfriend, Faye) set out to tour the country along with their Play-Tone idols. The Wonders ("As in, I wonder what happened to the O-neders?") are truly an overnight success. Before long, they stop hitting state fairs, and head for the big-time - California.
