This film, made five years before the hit TV show of the same name, tells the story of Buffy Summers (Kristy Swanson), a Los Angeles high school student whose life revolves around cheerleading, shopping, gossiping and all the other activities you could expect from a stereotypical valley girl. But Destiny has chosen another path for Buffy, since she happens to be the reincarnated Slayer, a woman born with the strength and skill to fight the vampires and the creatures of the night. At least this is the explanation given by Merrick (Donald Sutherland), a mysterious stranger who wants to teach her the skills of vampire slaying. Buffy is skeptical at first, but when she meets a vampire for the first time, she grudgingly accepts her fate. Now, with the aid of a young drifter named Pike (Luke Perry), Buffy must face the vampire master Lothos (Rutger Hauer) before he and his sidekick Amilyn (Paul Reubens) turn the school dance into an all-you-can-eat buffet.
