Thank you very much Hollywood for turning Dragon Ball, one of the greatest Mangas (and Animes) into a silly pseudo-action movie.

I don't promise much, but I do promise you that THIS WILL SUCK!

Nothing to due with the anime and utterly fails!

Hm, I saw the "movie-poster" and, even though I'm really not a fan of the lame series (I'm sorry guys...), I do not like how the actor looks compared to the cartoon.

I'll watch the trailer now...

And indeed, it seems like it will be very generic and lame.
All I recognized was the names and none of the character's appearances.
Like why is Goku this American (actually Canadian) guy?
That's totally not how I had imagined or would have created the real-life version oh him.
Also, what's with the urban and what not settings, where are the wide-open deserts and such things?

I think, even though again I'm not a fan of the series, this could have been one awesome movie and drawn a lot more attention and fans to the originals.
Dumb move to create such a generic fighting-movie with B-TV-series-grade actors, settings and events...

But we'll see how it turns out, it's probably aimed at the younger teenagers or kids even, despite some explicit violent moments I see...

This is a mistake, to be honest I don't going to see this, they are killing a good Manga and Anime with this movie. WHAT A MISTAKE

Right... I'm normally the first to defend these kinds of films but this is not Dragonball. This looks to be an ok action film at best but looks to be the worst possible kind of Dragonball movie that could ever be made. I was optimistic about it until now. This is just completely the wrong direction to take, I would say mainly because the whole visual tone is just wrong and it just looks completely different. I mean haven't these people learnt anything from the success of films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, the Spider-Man movies, Iron Man, Sin City or 300, etc. You have to either find a happy medium between making something that long term fans will recognise but is also accessible to newcomers or make a literal translation from comic book page to screen. You can't just take the name of something and the name of its characters and then turn around and do whatever the hell you like with it, ignoring decades upon decades of history. You can't turn Hulk into a drama, you can't take these iconic characters and stories and try to turn them into something their not. You can't turn a comedy into a drama and expect people to laugh, you can't take a horror and turn it into romance and expect people to be scared.

Anways, I always thought the film should have been Japan made, with a whole host of Japanese superstars who look as close to the anime and manga characters as possible. I always used to imagine what those epic battles that take place in such remote places would look like in live-action, I just can't imagine Frieza, the Androids, Majin Buu, Cell and all those other amazing characters in the world that the has been created. Then again, it's just a trailer, they are often misleading, who knows what the actual film is like but I just get a nagging feeling with this one that what you see is what you get.

This is a total disgrace to the original Dragonball series!!!

Shame on any moron here who thinks that Dragonball is anything other than an atrocious monstrosity masquerading as a story.

This movie looks like it will probably be better than any of the vile mangas it is based on.

Eh, if it manages to be a solid action film, I'll be happy. It looks like they're really trying to do their own thing with the franchise instead of a straight-up adaptation, which I can sort of understand. It'll be a bad movie one way or another, but hopefully it'll at least be fun.

No kidding that was the original attempt by the japanese at making a live action dragonball movie. It's called DragonBall: the magic begins.

I dont get it why can't anyone make a decent Dragonball movie? The japanese can't do it the americans can't do it why can't anyone do it? To be honest this trailer looks no better than the original japanese live action attempt at making a Dragonball movie.

Although I must admit in this trailer they did manage to get the intro sequence pretty darn close to that of the anime.

The only possible way for me to enjoy this movie would be by having ''I'm gonna watch a TYPICAL AND LAME AMERICAN MOVIE'' in mind, not ''awesome, I'm gonna watch a DragonBall movie'' when watching it.

he should have been goddamn goku, why is goku an untalented american actor? why is bulma packing that much heat and why isn't her hair pink or blue or whatever it was, why does piccolo look like vodemort(or however you spell it) from the harry potter series? wheres vegeta? whats all that crap about the mistics, why not just "god made the dragonballs" like in the manga.
